A Prince George’s police officer is charged with domestic assault

| May 4, 2018 | Criminal Defense |

A 27-year-old Prince George’s police officer has been put on administrative leave pending the outcome of an Internal Affairs investigation into his treatment of his live-in girlfriend.

According to a spokesperson for his employer, he was suspended from his role with Prince George’s County on April 25 after it came to light that the officer was arrested in Florida while vacationing there earlier that same month.

That spokesperson notes that his suspension stems from accusations that the three-year veteran police officer was involved in a domestic assault in Anne Arundel County on April 4.

It would appear that no separate incident occurred in Florida, but instead he was picked up on an out-of-state warrant at Miami International Airport as he arrived there. He apparently was passing through the airport on his way back from a trip to Mexico when he was picked up by police.

The officer’s girlfriend apparently cooperated with Anne Arundel county police while he was away on vacation, resulting in them issuing the warrant for his arrest upon his return to the United States. He was booked in a Miami jail on both reckless endangerment and assault charges. It’s unclear when he was expected to be extradited back to Maryland to be tried in the case.

A criminal conviction on your record can greatly impact your ability to either retain current or obtain future employment especially if you work in certain fields such as education, health care or criminal justice. This is why, if you’ve been accused of having committed a crime, then you owe it to yourself to seek out the guidance of a Clinton, Maryland, attorney to guide you in your legal matter.
