A 21-year-old man from Laurel and a 22-year-old man from Glen Burnie were arrested after an alleged altercation outside the Maryland Live! casino on Jan. 12.
Authorities allege the pair robbed a 58-year-old man at knife point in the casino’s garage. According to the man, he had been sleeping in his car, but was awakened by what sounded like someone tampering with his car. He got out of the car to investigate and found a flat rear tire.
The man was allegedly approached by the two suspects. Although the man tried to get back in his vehicle and get away, one of the men held a knife to his throat through the window. The man handed over his wallet and the alleged suspects fled the scene.
Surveillance footage was obtained, and the two men’s vehicle was identified. During an interview, the victim identified the two men from different photo arrays. Both men were apprehended later the same day, one around 3 in the afternoon at his residence and the other later in the evening at a different residence. They are both charged with armed robbery, assault and related charges.
Both men are facing serious charges so it would be in the best interests of both if they sought advice from an experienced legal professional while crafting a criminal defense. When mounting a defense, this is not the time to try and go it alone. The expertise of a legal professional can help a defendant understand the charges being brought, the possible penalties for those charges and help a defendant decide whether a guilty or innocent plea is the best approach.
