Charges against a police officer for possession of an AR-15 assault weapon that was purchased from a Maryland gun shop have been dismissed. The officer was arrested for having the weapon in his possession back on March of 2011. The arrest came nearly two years after the weapon had been purchased to begin with.
There were 17 individuals including a Maryland law enforcement officer accused of conspiring to distribute heroin, cocaine and other illegal substances. Though the officer allegedly may not have taken part in the conspiracy, she reportedly tipped off her brother regarding possible surveillance by other law enforcement officers. Therefore, the officer has been charged with interfering with an investigation.
A 22-year-old woman was sentenced to 37 months of imprisonment by a Maryland federal judge for alleged embezzlement. She was also ordered to pay back $495,286 in claimed restitution.
The DUI/DWI charges that were brought against a Maryland police officer were recently dropped. The officer had been stopped at a sobriety checkpoint back on St. Patrick's Day.
A Maryland woman has been sentenced to eight years of imprisonment for supposed embezzlement. The woman was charged on one count of theft in the amount of over $100,000. Apparently, the woman has pled guilty to the charges and claimed that a gambling addiction had driven her to take the money from the company she had worked at for a number of years. Besides the prison sentence, she is also expected to pay at least a certain amount of restitution as well.
