How long is cocaine going to remain in your system?

The amount of cocaine that can be detected in the body is highest right after you take it, typically peaking in around a half an hour, when it has the largest impact on the way that you feel. Often, those who use feel it hit peak levels after around 20 or 30 minutes.

Of course, the way you take cocaine also changes when you feel it and how long you feel it for. Consider the following:

--When it is taken in an intravenous fashion, effects can be felt in a mere five minutes.-- When it is snorted, one of the most common ways to take it, the effects are typically felt in around 30 minutes.-- When base cocaine is smoked, the effects usually come on after around 45 minutes.-- When the cocaine is taken orally, the effects kick in after roughly an hour.

However, that lack of a cocaine high does not mean that it is out of your system. If you are tested by the authorities, they could still detect it for anywhere from two to four days. By this point, you won't be feeling it at all, but you could still face charges based on these tests.

One interesting thing to note is that those who use the drugs on an occasional basis usually can find it in their systems for the two-to-four days noted above, but things can be much different for habitual users, and it can be detected in them for as long as 12 days.

If you're facing charges for possession, use, distribution or trafficking of cocaine, be sure you know your rights in Maryland.
